Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Hong Son and Mr. Rikhi Thakral sign the MoA under the witness of VNU representatives, Seiko Watch Corporation, Luu Hung Phat JSC. and the UEB
On 7th March 2014, the VNU University of Economics and Business and Thakral have signed an MOU, aiming to strengthen the cooperation activity among the university, Thakral Group (Singapore), and Luu Hung Phat JSC., authorized representative of Thakral in Vietnam.
Attending to the ceremony were Thakral Group’s CEO Mr. Rikhi Thakral, General Director of Luu Hung Phat JSC Dr. Luu Van Thanh, representative of Seiko Watch Corporation Ms. Ishimaru T and other managers. There were also leaders of VNU Academic Affairs Department, Political - Students Affairs Department and Cooperation & Development Department.
From VNU University of Economics and Business, there was Rector Asoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Vice Rector Dr. Nguyen Truc Le and leaders of other UEB’s offices as well as UEB students.
Within the cooperation agreement, InSEWA which is a humanitarian organization, under the auspices of the Thakral Group is continuing to fund 30 scholarships named Thakral Scholars - InSEWA Ltd. as signed in the agreement minutes with the VNU in 2011. The organization is also the donor of three scholarships for UEB outstanding students, namely Thakral Talent Scholarship - InSEWA Ltd.
In addition, InSEWA is offering 10 prizes (each worth 10 million VND) for 10 UEB faculty members or researchers who had articles published in international journals having ISI or Scopus index in two school years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015; awarding ten similar prizes for five young doctors under 30 years old at the university in two school years 2013-2014 and 2014 to 2015.

Addressing at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Hong Son said that the UEB appreciated the contribution of Thakral Group in recent years, especially precious scholarships for UEB students and faculty members. With the goal of becoming a research university, the university is aware of the significance of international cooperation in its training and research activities. Therefore, the UEB is looking forwards to receiving the support from the Thakral Group in general and Mr. Rikhi Thakral in particular.
On behalf of Thakral Group and InSEWA, Mr. Rikhi Thakral expressed his thanks to the VNU and the UEB for the facilitation may help him contribute to the development of Vietnam’s education. He said that the Thakral Group - InSEWA Organization would strive to offer more scholarships for students of VNU in the coming years.

At the ceremony, scholarships from InSEWA Organization were awarded to 10 faculty members having excellent research achievements and 33 disadvantaged students having good studying results.
