Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2011 on the Press

After 3 years of publication, Vietnam Annual Economic Report by Vietnam Center of Economic and Policy Research (UEB) has been becoming the reference document of many economic organizations. Therefore, the launching conference of the report always draws the notable participation and interest of the press and media.

Mutations in the number of the press attending to the 2011 report launching conference (nearly 200 newspapers) have showed that the economic issues mentioned in the report have meet the criteria and objectives proposed, in which numerous information reflects the existing economic concerns and strategy of the country. The number of articles related to this event can be divided into highlights as follows:

Television reported deeply and constantly on the Vietnam Annual Economic Report as this event attracts remarkable interest. The concerns such as inflation, the government’s choice for economic development as well as finance, banking… are particularly mentioned. Television channels such as VTV (Vietnam Television), Vietnam News Agency have broadcasted breaking news and other reports on the 2011 Vietnam Annual Economic Report. Other economic and finance channels of VTV, VTC, Vietnam News Agency, InfoTV, InvestTV… also put on air ​​many talk shows, seminars and discussions around the economic issues that the report mentioned.

Besides the attendance of Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Hong Son (UEB Rector), PhD. As for printed newspapers, online newspapers and radio channels, the raising issues are analyzed more comprehensive and thoroughly.

- The selection of development direction: This issue is reported by many newspapers and is also a highlight of 2011 Vietnam Annual Economic Report. Analyzing “the selection at a crossroad”, Vietnam Economic Forum Vef.vn has a deep article entitled “Confused at a crossroad, inflation rate may reach18.2%”. Another notable article published on the Vietnam Economic Review entitled “The economy is more fragile than that in 2008”. This article attracted the attention among many readers and websites. Also analyzing about the inflation, Sai Gon Tiep thi has published an article “Inflation because of abundant supply and  inadequate

effective”. Relating to public debt, the Sai Gon Giai phong has warned “Be aware of public debt”.

Vietnam Annual Report Economy is the priority study of the University of Economics and Business - VNU. Since 2009, the report has been published annually to summarize the major economic issues in the last year. It also discusses the economic outlook for the next year and policy recommendations in the current context.

Accordingly, the enquiry for “Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2011” has showed up to 44,600 results after 30 seconds of searching although the event took place only less than a month ago. Compared to the result after one year publication of Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2010, the results obtained 52,900 responses. It can be denied that, after only a short time, information about Vietnam Annual Economic Report has attracted great attention from the media and readers nationwide.
