UEB students visit Yokohama National University

The UEB students participate in a class at Yokohama National University
From 9th to 18th July 2014, a students’ group of the UEB’s Faculty Business Administration (international standard training program) led by Dr. Phan Chi Anh, Associate Dean had a field trip and memorable experience at Yokohama National University - Japan.

The field trip is within the framework of a cooperation agreement between the VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) and Yokohama National University (YNU) launched since 2013. This is the second time the BA students of the UEB visited Japan and experienced practical study at YNU.
The trip aimed to provide the students with practical experience and knowledge of actual production at the world’s leading enterprises.
During 10 days in Japan, the UEB students were studying at the YNU Faculty of Business Administration with a program of basic subjects such as Theory of Constraints, supply chain management. They also learned about Japanese culture and society, management System in the Japanese company and participated in seminars with Japanese students, etc. Particularly, it was the first time the UEB students learned such new subjects like environmental management accounting, art market or business game.
Under the guidance of YNU experienced instructors, the UEB students learned many study cases to have an insight to the knowledge.

 

The field trip to Nissan engine assembly factory

Apart from participating in classes, the UEB students visited several Japanese companies to directly observe part of the economic operation of the country.
The delegation had the opportunity to visit Disneyland Tokyo to observe services in Japan. All of them were impressed by the “smiley culture” in Japanese business. They also visited the Yokohama Cup Noodles Museum to know about the history of instant noodles and ideas of improvement and creativity, which is reflected in one of the most convenient foods.
Two plants of Mitsubushi Fuco and Nissan were perfect destinations for students of Business Administration to observe the assembly process of a car as well as the application of automatic machinery and lean management in manufacturing.
After nearly two years of implementation, the relationship between the UEB and YNU has flourished. In 2014, the number of exchanging students increased, there were 15 UEB students visited YNU in 10 days compared to 10 students stayed in 7 days in 2013. In addition to student exchange, the two sides also cooperate in faculty exchange and research and publish international science articles. Promisingly, the two universities will continue to expand the potential areas of cooperation in the future.
