On January 21st, 2021, the School of Business Administration, VNU University of Economics and Business held the Conference on “Smart Management in a complex global environment: Theory and Practice" aiming at clarifying the theoretical and practical basis of smart governance to help businesses and organizations master the complexity by converting the traditional to a modern and tool-based management model.

Speaking at the conference, Assoc.Prof.PhD. Hoang Van Hai - Dean of the School of Business Administration, said: “A complex environment is an unpredictable environment. That's why it takes flexibility and adaptability, which requires intelligence. Therefore, smart management will be an inevitable trend in the world and in Vietnam. The need to quickly adapt to changes in the economy is essential. Vietnam is a country with a young, dynamic and creative human resource that is closely watched by the Government. These are important factors that give advantages to the transition from traditional to smart governance. However, businesses need to prepare themselves to be proactive in order to transform and speed up the progress. ”

Prof. Phạm Vũ Luận - Former Minister of Education and Training

Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector emphasized: “Among research projects of the UEB, there are key researches which aim at academic study and consulting activities for businesses. The UEB has developed five strong research groups, two of which were led by the School of Business Administration: Research on productivity and quality in Vietnamese enterprises and Lean management in Vietnamese enterprises. 2020 is the year with large fluctuations in the world. These fluctuations brought about by the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the US-China trade war, the 4.0 revolution. These changes impose not only the short-term but also long-term impact, which challenge all the current economic theories.”
