Research purposes: Based on a general study on the theory and reality of foreign direct investment, this essay concentrates on analyzing Vietnam’s solutions in attracting foreign direct investment and it also analyses in depth some factors affecting those solutions ever since the occurrence of the Asian financial crisis in 1997. Thence, the essay proposes some recommendations for greater attraction of foreign investments in Vietnam thereafter.
New contributions:
- To offer a clear picture of foreign capital investment status in Vietnam after the Asian financial and monetary crisis in 1997.
- To analyze the underlying causes creating foreign financial investment reduction in Vietnam since 1997 and the recovery of FDI since 2001.
- To propose some recommendations to boost foreign investments in Vietnam in the coming periods.
