On 24 April 2014, the VNU University of Economics and Business have conferred certificate for 109 learners after the training course on “Improving management skills for local officers”, which was held by the university and People Committee of Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa province.
It is the 5th training courses held by the two sides, aiming at leaders, managers of local authorities, who had been selected by Tinh Gia District Communist Party’s Committee.
Attending the course closing ceremony were Chairman Tinh Gia district People's Committee Mr. Truong Ba Phuc, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the district Mr. Nguyen Van Tong. From the VNU University of Economics and Business, there were Rector Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Head of Office of Research and Partnership Development Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh, Faculty of Business Administration Dean Dr. Hoang Van Hai and other UEB and staff faculty members.
At the ceremony, the leaders of the training course were awarded certificate after five days of hardworking participation. Finishing the course, learners were equipped with knowledge about socio-economic development strategy of their locality, decision making skills of local government, public leadership skills, developing local personnel management, financial management associated with local development revenues, etc.

Congratulating the learner at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son said besides the particular training programs, the UEB paid attention to organizing short-term training courses to improve quality of human resources for businesses, corporations and other organizations. The university was honored to contribute to the improvement of management capacity of the district’s officers.
The UEB Rector hoped that the knowledge from the course would be helpful for the learners, contributing to the sustainable development of the province. The coordination with Tinh Gia People’s Committee reflected the university’s objective of associating training with practice, especially development practice of local business.
On behalf of Tinh Gia district, Mr. Truong Pha Phuc expressed his congratulations to the learners who were awarded the certificates. He appreciated the course results and hopeed in the near future, Tinh Gia district People’s Committee and the University of Economics and Business would have more comprehensive cooperation program.
UEB delegation visits Nghi Son economic zone
On the same day, within the framework, the UEB delegation has a fieldtrip to the Nghi Son economic zone, the Nghi Son oil refinery project and Nghi Son deep water seaport. The petrochemical plant project which was invested by Japanese partners is a key economic project of Thanh Hoa Province. Currently the project is at the first phase and is expected to be the largest oil refinery project in the country when completed.
The UEB delegation discussed with project staff in the Nghi Son economic zone for more practical information, serving future cooperation programs between Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa Province and the university.
With a team of experienced economic specialists and business manager, the UEB desired to have further cooperation with Tinh Gia district in the fields of training and advisory strategies for local development in future. Leader of the district also expressed the confidence in the initial success of the collaborative relationship as well as the sustainable operation in the future between the two parties.
