On May 13rd 2014, a seminar titled sharing experience of launching National Target Programme on New Rural Development was held at the UEB. The seminar is within workframe of the research project Review and assessment on the accuracy and implementation of National Target Programme in the Northwest 2001 - 2015.
The program aimed at promoting academic exchange and sharing experience on the implementation of the National Target Programme (NTP) on new rural development. The seminar chaired by project manager Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet received the keynote speaker Mr. Le Huy Ngo - Senior Advisor of New Rural Development Programme.
At the first session of the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet briefly introduced the branch and basic components of the whole research project, pointing out the objectives of the innovation and sustainable development for the Northwest. The project managers expressed their desire to learn from experience of launching NTP on New Rural Development, accordingly to develop concrete steps to implement the project.
Speaker Le Huy Ngo shared that the issues of rural development are topical since over 60% of the population are peasants, who are still inaccessible to average living standards in terms of physical, spiritual and cultural living, sanitation conditions... Therefore, the building of the NTP should rely on specific characters of Vietnam and the course of history.

In the second session of the seminar, specialists and researchers discussed about relevant issues. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet thought that the characteristics of the Northwest would affect the criteria of sampling of the research project. Other specialists discussed on the funding and the new rural development, proposing to use criteria to assess people’s satisfaction level.
The seminar has ended successfully, creating a foundation for developing the next stage and improve the quality of the project. On behalf of the Executive Board of the projecy, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet expressed his thanks to the researchers and specialists for contributing precious ideas for the project deployment. He hoped to continue to receive their active collaboration to gain the highest efficiency.
