VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) in association with Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR) organized the academic talk on "Intra-ASEAN Growth Dynamics: Thailand and Vietnam in Regional Value Chains", which was chaired by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu on March 19, 2019.
The
event attracted a large number of students, master and doctoral students,
lecturers and participants interested in value chain issues in ASEAN region.
Assoc.Prof.Dr.
Nguyen Duc Thanh started the academic talk by delivering opening speech and
introducing the speaker Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pavida Pananond. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pavida
Pananond is currently conducting research activities at Thammasat University. She's also a member of the ASEAN@50 Fellowship Program, who accompanying Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen
Duc Thanh on a trip to New Zealand last February.

Assoc.Prof.Dr.
Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector of UEB presented an
overview of the ASEAN trade situation, opportunities and challenges of the
global value chain to ASEAN countries.
Assoc.Prof.Dr
Pavida Pananond has a concise speech with visual statistics on the ASEAN trade
situation. She pointed out that ASEAN’s import and export structure is shifting
from the US-EU to China-Intra-ASEAN, which has created considerable opportunities and
constituted challenges for enterprises and policy makers in the area.
The talk received widespread
attention of scholars and students with intensive orientation in the field of
research. Following the agreement between Thammasat University and the UEB, the
two universities will undertake student and lecture exchange programs annually. Furthermore, it is expected that in the near future, the
two universities will widen cooperation scope, which creates opportunities for academic, educational and
cultural exchanges between the two countries.
