Responding to the year of voluntary youth, on June 26th 2014, Youth Union of VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB) has organized voluntary painting activity at Tien Yen village, one of the poor communes of Hoai Duc district (25km far from Hanoi center).
This is also the first program in the framework of funding program of TOA Paint Vietnam Co., Ltd. (TOA) for the UEB’s Youth Union activities during summer 2014. In this trip, the team is expected to paint and redecorate 12 classrooms of Tien Yen Primary School.
From different UEB’s faculties, 23 volunteers were willing to complete the tasks despite a lot of difficulty. From 6.30am, the team departed from VNU to Tien Yen Primary School after more than an hour.
Here, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the staff and the teacher of the school. At the beginning the program, the representatives of UEB’s Youth Union met and exchanged with the sponsors and the primary school including Mr. Tran Minh Tuan - Director of TOA Paint Co., Ltd.; Ms Tran Thu Huong and Mr Nguyen Trung Phong - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, Nguyen Thu Ha - Principal of Tien Yen Primary School and also the participation of volunteers.
UEB students work actively
After assigning the task, the students were divided into small voluntary groups, each group was in charge of painting, fixing and cleaning each room. In the morning, along with the school staff, the team finished 4 rooms at second floor.
After the lunch break, the team continued to work to catch up the progress. By the end of the day, the UEB volunteers had finished the painting and redecorating nine out of 12 classrooms, cleaning 9 spacious classrooms of Tien Yen Primary School, sweeping the entire building, cleaning the black board for pupils, etc.
The group ended the voluntary program at 6:30 pm in the same day. In spite of the tiredness, the team were joyful because the program was held successfully.
