• To systematize, in theory, transformation of economic structure in response to modernization and industrialization
• To assess the factual situation of the transformation of economic structure in Thua Thien, Hue in recent years; to clarify factors that affect the transformation process of economic structure in this province
• To propose directions, targets and solutions to help speed up the process of economic structure transformation in Thua Thien Hue in the spirit of modernization and industrialization during the years from 2006 to 2010

• To clarify concepts, roles of economic structure transformation, to firstly draw some lessons of experience from some cities and provinces having gone through economic structure transformation.
• To clarify the current situation of economic structure transformation in Thua Thien Hue in the process of innovation.
• To propose directions and measures which contribute to speeding up the process of economic structure transformation in Thua Thien Hue.
