Opening ceremony for the 2015-2016 academic year

On 16th September 2015, the VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) solemnly held the opening ceremony for the 2015-2016 academic year. The ceremony was well attended by the management board, staff, faculties and students of the University.
The ceremony was also attended by leaders and representatives of functional departments and offices of Vietnam National University; representatives of associations, businesses, banks and corporations as partners of the UEB (including: PV Power, Vinapco, Citicom, IMG, IDT, DIV, BIDV, Hapro, AICapital etc.).
The academic year of 2014-2015 has recorded many outstanding achievements of the VNU-UEB. The University is completing the organization structure and personnel to meet up with development requirement. This year, the University had 5 more faculties titled as Associate Professor and Professor. Training quality was markedly improved. Also in 2015, the UEB received accreditation from the AUN (ASEAN University Network) for the program Bachelor of Business Administration. In addition, international post of faculties strongly increased and short-term courses had breakthrough development.
These achievements made steady steps in achieving the goal of becoming leading research university as well as acknowledged the efforts of the University in providing reliable and prestigious training institution for the society.
In the speech congratulating the freshmen, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son emphasized: Vision, life values and high adaptability to rapidly changing world are what you need to gain during your student life. The Rector also expressed thanks to relevant agencies and Management Board of the VNU as well as partners, enterprises and sponsors for accompanying and supporting the University in training the high-quality human resources for the country.

At the ceremony, the UEB awarded 19 excellent students, including valedictorian of the university entrance exam 2015; 6 students with outstanding academic achievement; 6 students with great contribution to youth and student unions and 6 economically disadvantaged students. This is academic recognition for endeavors and efforts of the students as well as encouragement award from the University for them.

Also at the ceremony, the University delighted to receive scholarships from partners, enterprises as IMG JSC., InSewa Charities, National Commercial Bank (NCB), Lien Viet Post Bank, Sacombank, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) etc.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of partners of the University, Dr Luu Van Thanh - Chairman and CEO of Luu Hung Phat Vietnam JSC. congratulated the University and expressed his impression on the outstanding achievements that the University have gained in the past few years. He also shared that the scholarship named Thakral - InSewa (funded by Luu Hung Phat JSC and awarded to UEB’s students) will be extended for another 3 years, including scholarships for talented and scholarship for economically disadvantaged students with outstanding academic achievement.
Dr. Luu Van Thanh expressed his impression on the outstanding achievements of the University.
On behalf of the freshmen QH-2015-E, valedictorian of the university entrance exam 2015 Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam (Faculty of Accounting and Auditing) expressed the pride and joy to become members of the UEB family. "Over the time being exposed to my new school, the more I get to know it, the more I am impressed about the university, which makes me fall in love with the UEB, the faculty and believe in my choice.”
The 2015-2016 academic year had special significance with many important events of the country, the VNU and the UEB. Confidently, with solidarity, consensus and collective efforts of the staff, faculties and students, the VNU-UEB will fulfill the targets of the year.
