Attending the ceremony were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), Permanent Vice - President of VNU; representatives of departments, representatives of member institutions of VNU, former lecturers and all staff, faculty, students, graduate students of the university.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the VNU, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son  awarded the Decision of Reappointment to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son to be the Rector of VNU-UEB in the term 2016-2020 and the Decision to appoint Dr. Pham Minh Tuan to be the Vice-Rector of the university.

Speaking at the ceremony, The Permanent Vice - President of VNU expressed his appreciation for the contributions of leaders of VNU-UEB for the past few years. VNU-UEB has always kept promoting inherent strengths and constantly affirmed the position of the university in the system of VNU as well as in the country.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son also mentioned that the mission of a member university VNU requires VNU-UEB to develop stronger, becoming a model of university governance; continue to enhance the expertise in the field of administration and other activities of the university; keep abreast of economic - social issues and participate in solving urgent eco-socio problems of the nation.

The Permanent Vice - President of VNU emphasized, VNU-UEB is a research oriented university so academic factor still has to be the priority and needs to be strengthened. The international publications, research programs, national projects should be developed and executed more strongly. The university should continue to be the pilot to promote new training programs and models as well as the pioneer in representing advanced university governance model, attracting high-qualified human resources in the country and abroad.

Here, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son expressed his deep gratitude to the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, leaders of function departments of VNU, the management board and all staff, faculty who had put the trust on him and supported him to continue taking over the position of Rector from 2016 to 2020.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son said that, before being invited to VNU-UEB for the position of Vice - Rector, he was attracted by the vision and desire to build a research-oriented university with high quality, high efficiency and international stature of VNU UEB in particular and VNU in general.

Being reappointed to be the Rector of VNU-UEB, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son considered it an honor and a great responsibility beside the achievements, the university is still dealing with many difficulties and challenges. Among them - the biggest challenge is to resolve the conflict between the development goals towards high quality and the limited resources.

However, with the enthusiastic support and cooperation from colleagues, partners, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son believed to take over the assigned responsibility. "I promise to stay with you to make this university the destination of knowledge", a pioneering university with new values as our style over recent years"- he stressed.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the new Vice Rector - Dr. Pham Minh Tuan promised to continue promoting the achievements of the university; while inheriting the initiatives, good experiences of the leaders of the university; maintaining the stability to develop the university on the basis of internal solidarity, promoting the spirit of collaboration, creative work of each members.

Being appointed to be the Vice-Rector in the new period, Dr. Pham Minh Tuan looked forward to further support and leadership of VNU as well as the effective contribution of national Boards, Ministries, local authorities and universities. He also expected to receive the cooperation and sharing with high community spirit from the Party, the unions, management boards and all staff, faculty, students and graduate students while taking over his duties.
