The goal for academic year 2009 - 2010: The University of Economics and Business is going to strive for more success

On 9th September 2009, The University of Economics and Business - VNU held an Assignment Signing Ceremony for the academic year 2009 - 2010 to the UEB’s responsible units. Assoc.Prof.Dr Phung Xuan Nha, Rector and Vice-Rectors of the UEB chaired the ceremony.


Present at the ceremony were Assoc.Prof.Dr Vu Duc Minh - Chief of Planning Finance Department of VNU; Representatives in charge of planning from UEB’s units.

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr Phung Xuan Nha, Rector of the UEB expressed his agreement on awareness of development and plan implementation: "consider planning as an ordinance!”. Assoc. Prof. Dr Phung Xuan Nha emphasized the central missions of the UEB in the academic year 2009 - 2010 as follows:

1. TRAINING:

The UEB should focus on implementing high-quality programs of international standards. This can be realized by applying some positive elements of “conceive-design-implant-operate” (CDIO) for pursuing international high - quality program for English-as-teaching- medium Economy and Finance Banking Program -. In addition, the UEB should espouse the credit-hour system adopted as the direction for VNU.

2. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH:

The UEB should focus on implementing two major programs that is research on the impact of calamity and climate change on national economy, and the annual economic report; this can be done by increasing amounts of international journals and publications; and motivating research work among trainees and researchers.

3. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT:

The UEB should focus on maximizing cooperative benefits with committed partners; and search for and develop international projects.

4. MATERIAL/ ADMINISTRATIVE FACILITIES:

The UEB should adhere to the International Standardization Organization (ISO) with regard to quality managementsystems; and organize cultural activities at the UEB.

5. JOURNAL & WEBSITE ACTIVITIES:

The UEB should focus ondeveloping and maintaining an electronic informative website and concentrate on publishing an English journal with articles of interest.

6. PLANNING & FINANCE:

 Professionalizing the planning (formulating, executing, supervising the implementation) and enhancing the effectiveness in utilizing finance sources, as well as increasing income for staffs and lecturers as the UEB’s goals.

7. HUMAN RESOURSE ADMINISTRATION:

 Organizing courses to train and improve staffs’ and lecturers’ competency; Focusing on finishing and applying human resource development project.

8. QUALITY ASSURANCE:

Improving teaching and learning standards.

9. VERIFICATION PROCEDURES:

  Focusing on efficient mid-term evaluation reports; finalizing verification of high-quality programs. Other programs of the UEB will be applied at various scopes…

10. ASSOCIATIONS & ORGANIZATIONS:

 Establishing and strengtheningcommunity cultural activities.

On the basis of assigned missions, the UEB’s units will specify the contents and plans to put into practice. In order to obtain highly effective implementation in the academic year 2009 - 2010, the UEB will accelerate finalization of on-going assignments by duty allocation and motivation. Let us consider progress and quality as the basis to evaluate, select and emulate.

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr Phung Xuan Nha - Rector of the UEB signed the assignment minutes for the academic year to 5 faculties and 3 centers, including: Faculty of International Business and Economics, School of Business, Faculty of Finance - Banking, Faculty of Economy Development, Faculty of Political Economics, Center for Economic Development Studies, Center for Economic and Policy Research, and Center for Student Service.

According to an evaluation of Assoc.Prof.Dr Vu Duc Minh - Chief of Planning Finance Department of VNU, the UEB is one of the archetypal pioneers specializing in assignment systemization of VNU. This is fundamental for the UEB to effectively realize its assigned strategic objectives.
