Opening Ceremony of Joint Program in Master of Public Management, 3rd course

On 28th August 2010, the opening ceremony of joint training program in Public Management Master was held by UEB - VNU in association with the Uppsala University, Sweeden.


The opening was witnessed by the representatives of the Uppsala University, UEB leaders and the Program’s students.

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Hong Son - Vice Rector of the UEB and Mr. Detlef Clowe - Director of the Education Committee, Uppsala University shared their thoughts with the students of the program and the UEB’s bright future. They both believed that UEB’s constant efforts would enhance its position in the educational system of Vietnam particularly in preparation of future talented entrepreneurs, and building competency for policy makers, economists, and managers who work for governmental agencies.

Also at the ceremony, the participants witnessed the signing of the cooperation program with SIDA Fund. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son and Mr. Detlef Clowe drummed to open the new course.

This event showed an important progress of the Joint Master Program in Public Management as it has satisfied the needs of the society of public management but also strengthened the long lasting relationship between Sweeden and Vietnam.

The curriculum of Public Management adopted by the UEB, based on that of leading European universities with consultation of Vietnamese senior experts in public management. It is a harmonious combination of international and Vietnamese theories and practices. The curriculum has nine modules. It takes students fifteen months included one month in Sweeden to finish the program. The designed curriculum would suit needs of almost participants who are future managers of public management.  

Students take classes in the evenings and at weekends. As lectures are given in English, translation is available to support student’s learning. Students even can travel to Sweeden to present their thesis and get diplomas. In addition to the fixed modules, the Program offers several courses on English, management and leadership.
