GFFC-2022 attracts hundreds of scientists, researchers, managers, domestic and international experts.
Financial consumer protection is important in promoting financial inclusion, contributing to the economic growth of each country. The 9th Annual Global Forum for Financial Consumers (GFFC-2022) with the theme "Financial consumer protection and sustainable development" was co-organized by the International Academy of Financial Consumers (IAFICO), Faculty of Accounting and Auditing - VNU-UEB, and Academy of Banking (SBV-BA) on August 4-5/ 2022.
GFFC-2022 attracts hundreds of scientists, researchers,
managers, domestic and international experts. Keynote speakers are included Dr.
Janis Pappalardo - Associate Director for Research, Markets, and Regulations at
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFP Bureau); Professor Sharon Tennyson,
Cornell University, USA; Professor Brenda Cude, George University, USA;
Professor. Adele Atkinsons, University of Birmingham, UK; Dr. Can Van Luc,
member of the National Monetary and Financial Policy Advisory Council; Dr. Pham
Bao Khanh, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Deposit Insurance.
Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector of
VNU-UEB said: “The fourth industrial revolution is taking place far and wide,
creating many opportunities and challenges for each country in the development
process. Keeping up with that trend, VNU-UEB has shown a pioneering role in
carrying out the mission of researching and transferring research results in
the digital economy to the Government, organizations, businesses, industries
and society. We hope that the workshop will open up new research directions on
behavioral finance, the formation and development of the market for renewable
energy technology, banking, financial instruments, green accounting, integrated
reporting, environmental audit, etc., as well as opening up many opportunities
for international cooperation in teaching and research with leading
universities in the region and the world.”
Prof.
Dr. Man Cho - KDI School of Public Policy and Management, International Academy of Financial Consumers also expressed that
this conference is a gathering place for experts and scientists with many
in-depth research papers to discuss about problems, provide effective
solutions, and provide valuable financial consumer protection policy
recommendations towards sustainable development.
Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Binh - Deputy General Director of Vietnam
Deposit Insurance said that protecting financial consumers is an important
issue, because Vietnam's economy is relatively dependent on the banking system
in providing capital for economic development. In addition, the protection of
financial consumers is still relatively limited in our country, so the workshop
will make a great contribution to raising awareness, as well as proposing
effective policies for financial consumers in general and depositors in
particular in Vietnam.
During the discussion sessions, financial
education and financial planning; financial consumer protection from the impact
of COVID-19; consumer and social protection were discussed and solutions to
protect Vietnamese financial consumers were proposed.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Thuy - Dean of the Faculty of
Accounting and Auditing – VNU-UEB said that the event not only contributes to
strengthening the strong cooperation relationship between the University and
major financial institutions in the world, prestigious universities at home and
abroad but also contribute to affirming the position of the University in international
research. The extensive international cooperation is the foundation to improve
the prestige and training quality of VNU-UEB in the future.
