Effective Implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union: The Role of Research and Industrial Policy

“Research, innovation and industrial policy are important foundations for the effective implementation of the EVFTA” is the conclusion after the event jointly organized by University of Economics and Business – VNU in collaboration with Italy’s National University Center for Applied Economic Studies (CiMET) and Italian Embassy in Hanoi.

The discussion is part of a series of events marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy (March 23, 1973 - March 23, 2023), and at the same time celebrates the Italian Science Day (April 15, 2023) and towards the response to Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18, 2023).

Participating in the seminar were Mr. Antonio Alessandro - Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Giang - Head of the European Commission, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Prof. Marco Abbiati - Scientific Counselor, Italian Embassy in Hanoi, Mr. Federico Vasoli - Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam;

The University of Economics and Business had the participation of Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Truc Le, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Assoc. Prof. Dr Le Trung Thanh - Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Anh Thu – Vice Rector and many leaders and lecturers of Faculty/Institute.

In addition, the seminar also attracted many delegates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, VCCI, and scientific research organizations; representatives of departments, ministries, branches of Vietnam, experts, researchers, lecturers, representatives of associations and businesses.

 
 

The event was held hybrid (onsite at UEB-VNU and online in Italy,) with the participation of a large number of policymakers, and speakers from Vietnam and Italy.

The seminar was a success, and it was also an important people's forum in the series of trade and investment seminars and forums that the University of Economics and Business collaborates with partners.
