UCD Smurfit School – Irish Aid IDEAS Scholarship Programme

UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2013 Irish Aid IDEAS Scholarships programme for postgraduate study in business, finance and other disciplines.

UCD Michael Smurfit Business School is Ireland’s leading business school and is one of less than sixty schools worldwide to be awarded all three major business school accreditations, AACSB (USA), EQUIS (Europe) and AMBA (UK). Presently, UCD Michael Smurfit Business School is ranked 86th in the world by the prestigious Financial Times ranking while our full-time MBA programme is ranked 38th in the world's top 100 and 12th in Europe according to the Economist Intelligence Unit. We are the only Irish business school to gain a place in both of the aforementioned rankings. The successful candidates of this Scholarship competition will be awarded an opportunity to study at one of the world’s leading business schools and to live in one of Europe’s most dynamic and beautiful countries.
- Up to seven (7) full tuition scholarships for the full-time MBA Programme
- Up to twenty (20) full tuition scholarships for the following MSc Programmes:

Scholarship includes: return airfare, full tuition fees, public health insurance, a stipend to cover accommodation and subsistence costs, settling-in allowance, and book and clothing allowances (where appropriate). Scholarships are for individuals for full time study of 12 months duration for MBA or Master Programme

Please note that applications will only be considered for the MBA Fulltime programme and the ten MSc programmes listed above. Applications should not be submitted for any other programmes.

Eligibility:

Please refer to the entry requirements for each programme and ensure that you meet them before submitting your application. In addition applicants should meet the following Scholarship entry requirements.

MBA Applicants

  1. Must have a minimum of 3 years work experience

  2. Must meet our minimum English Language requirement in a recognised English Language Test

  3. Must achieve a minimum score of 550 or higher in the GMAT test

MSc Applicants

  1. Must have a minimum of 1 years prior work experience.

  2. Must meet our minimum English Language requirement in a recognised English Language Test

  3. Must have achieved a minimum overall final grade of 7.0/10 or higher (or equivalent GPA grade) in their undergraduate degree.

The Scholarship Programme is open to Vietnamese citizens resident in Vietnam who are committed to returning to Vietnam after their masters/MBA. We particularly encourage applications from public sector, ethnic minorities, people with disability and other marginalised groups. In exceptional cases, work experience may compensate for academic experience. This scholarship programme is intended to support canditates who would otherwise be unable to access overseas postgraduate opportunities.

Step 1 : UCD Programme Application Process

Applications for MBA and MSc programmes are now being accepted. 

Application Deadlines

  • Round 1: Deadline - November 13th 2012

  • FINAL Deadline: January 18th 2013

No applications will be accepted after the final application deadline of January 18th 2012. We strongly encourage applicants to apply early. Applications will be assessed in order of receipt.

Following the review of applications and telephone interviews, applicants will be informed by e-mail whether or not they have been accepted onto a course at the UCD Michael Smurfit School of Business. Candidates will also be advised if they have been selected to move forward to the next stage of the Scholarship competition. This stage will be completed by 15th February 2013.

Step 2: Irish Aid IDEAS Scholarship Application

Upon receipt of an offer of a place on the relevant programme, applicants can then apply for the Irish Aid IDEAS Scholarship.

Step 3: Irish Aid IDEAS Scholarship Final Interview and Selection

Second round interviews for shortlisted applicants will be held in April 2013 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Scholarship winners will be notified by late April 2013.
