Researchers at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) are the highest in number and the strongest among those working in different universities throughout Vietnam.

Apart from the systems of functional offices and departments in charge of student affairs, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has developed several units aiming at supporting students with their studies, scientific research and enhancing their extra-curricular activities in order to improve their social skills, such as Student Support Center, Center for Training Support and Development of University Town, Library and Information Center, Physical Training and Sports Center.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi, endowed with the mission of training highly qualified workforce and conducting top quality research, has gained not only trust but also cooperation with numerous provinces, institutions and business partners. During the period between 2000 and 2010, VNU has promoted collaborative scientific research activities in order to help provinces, sectors and ministries fulfill their tasks, provide scientific bases for socio-economic, cultural and educational development and environment protection, which are the key scientific and technological assignments of VNU.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has been known for her traditions and prestige in high quality education and training of talents. Every year, VNU produces more than 5,000 bachelors, including 10% of gifted students at international standards, 2,400 masters and 200 doctors graduating from 108 university programs, 121 master programs and 112 doctor programs in natural sciences, technology, economics, social sciences and humanities, education and foreign studies, etc.

Establishing and developing undergraduate and graduate disciplines at at VNU to meet international standards is one of the core items of its strategic tasks to 2010, vision 2020. Also, this tenor matches with the mission: to develop and transform VNU into a regionally equal undergraduate and graduate education, training and research center, reaching international standards. Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is the first modern university ever established in the country and one of the two national universities in Vietnam. VNU has undergone various stages of development: the University of Indochina established on 16 May 1906; Vietnam National University (November, 1945); the University of Hanoi (June, 1956). In December 1993, VNU was reorganized on the basis of amalgamating the University of Hanoi and other leading universities in Hanoi.
