VEPR-FNF 2019 Fall Course: "Advanced aspects of development in a market economy"

During 5 days, from October 1st to October 5th, 2019, the VEPR-FNF 2019 Fall Course with the topic: "Advanced aspects of development in the market economy" took place in Saigon - Ba Be Resort, Ba Be National Park, Bac Kan province. The course was held by Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR) – VNU University of Economics and Business under the sponsorship of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Germany


This year, the course gathered 20 students including managers at social organizations, non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, social enterprises, freelancers, artists, people working in areas related to policy development and advocacy, university lecturers and a number of students from around the country. Following the success of previous courses, this course is aimed atthose who are particularly interested in the field of development, with a desire to acquire more knowledge for themselves and interact with individuals who share the same values.

Throughout the course, participants gained knowledge on various topics including: Perspectives on development in a modern market economy; development from a cultural perspective; development from an environmental perspective; development from the perspective of landscape architecture; development from an institutional perspective; community development and building, etc.

On the first day of the course, VEPR Director - Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh shared the perspective and overall thinking of the course.

Dr. Pham Hung Tien - Representative of FNF Vietnam shared his thoughts on FNF's goals and commitments with the journey of sharing knowledge and opportunities for developers in Vietnam

On the second day, Dr. Ngo Dao shared the innovative methods of development through her emotional stories about bringing nature into buildings and promoting the protection and preservation of plants in urban area.

As the main lecturer of the course, MA. Nguyen Thi Bich Tam shared her knowledge about organizing and building community in the field of development.
