From 28 to 30 May 2013, as mandated by VNU President, VNU-UEB Rector Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son has attended to the Global University Summit 2013 under the theme “Universities and Economic Growth” held in London, the UK.
The summit is held annually to prepare the Declaration on the commitments and recommendations on the issues and concerns of the G8 Summit, which is held in London in June 2013. Over 150 delegates from more than 70 universities of 27 countries and territories around the world attended the summit, among which VNU is the sole representative of Vietnam.
During the summit, UEB Rector Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son has participated the Committee of Transnational Education and delivered a commentary speech on the impact of transnational education on recipient countries, implemented by Director of the British Council’s Education and Society Dr. Jo Beall.
In his speech, besides the commentary on the study results by Dr. Jo Beall, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son also mentioned issues related to transnational education that the developing countries like Vietnam are concerned. He emphasized the role of this training form in improving capacity for the receiver, combining training with research, bringing equal opportunity for all citizens to have access and especially to promote the reform the education and training system in the receiving country.

The participation of the UEB leader in the summit has created favorable conditions for promoting the image of Vietnam National University Hanoi in general and the VNU University of Economics and Economics in particular, as well as enhanced the connectivity and opened up new collaboration opportunities between the UEB with advanced universities in the world.
