“To learn something new, you need to try new things and not be afraid to be wrong.” (Roy T. Bennett). Each contest, each journey leaves behind unforgettable lessons, experiences and achievements for its participants, especially for the students of the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing, VNU University of Economics and Business.
The UEB’s students won the first prize in the contest "Management of Micro finance Institutions", taking place from October 18 to October 22, 2021. The contest lies within the framework of the training course on micro finance management sponsored by German Savings Bank.
Responding to the complex situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, the training courses took place online via zoom meetings. The course was designed in the form of a competition to solve real-life situations on microfinance management between teams from the VNU University of Economics and Business and the Banking Academy. Each team manages a microfinance institution; jointly develop the market share of lending and savings products over 6 financial years and 4 market periods, including:
- Phase 1 - year 1: Building product brands and sponsoring social welfare
- Phase 2 – year 2,3: Developing and growing business market share
- Phase 3 – year 4.5: Risk management during economic downturn
- Phase 4 – year 6: Sustainable development in the long term
The training course is entirely in English with lectures from 3 lecturers of the German Savings Bank. Teachers have provided learners with skills and in-depth knowledge on strategic planning, financial and human resource management, risk management, cash flow management as well as market analysis methods. After the course, the participants gained valuable knowledge and equipped themselves with soft skills.
After 6 phases, the team “Statebank of UEB” with students Thu Tra and Thao Nhi from the UEB won the championship of the contest. They learned the valuable lessons on decision-making and get matured phase after phase.
