UEB's Rector was elected as Vice Chairman of The Vietnam - UK Friendship Association

On 6th July 2019, in Hanoi, the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association ( the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations) held the 4th National Congress of the 2019-2024 term. In the congress, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le- Rector of University of Economics and Business was elected as Vice Chairman of the Association.

Attending the congress, there were Mrs. Nguyen Phuong Nga - the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Provisional Representative of United Kingdom Embassy in Vietnam XStep Lysaght, leaders of the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association together with a large number of members and representatives of some international organizations in Hanoi.

The Congress elected the 4th Executive Committee of the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association with 38 members. Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade was elected to be the Chairman during the term 2019-2024. The Meeting also elected Mr. Hoang Van Dung- Permanent Vice Chairman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association course 2 and 3, as Honorary Chairman of the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association.

For the past 5 years, the Vietnam – UK Friendship Association has organized many friendship and cooperation activities. Every year, the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association cooperates with partners in Vietnam to celebrate the great holidays and important political events of the two countries. The activities of the Association have contributed significantly to foreign affairs in general and the friendship between Vietnam and the United Kingdom in particular.

Highly appreciating the contributions of the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association, Mrs. Nguyen Phuong Nga - President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations emphasized: The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations highly appreciated the achievements of the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association during the last term. The activities of the Association have been implemented in many fields such as peace, solidarity and friendship. It also is the connection to promote economic, trade and educational cooperation between the two countries. The Association also promoted foreign propaganda, mobilized humanitarian aid, contributed significantly to the implementation of foreign political mission as well as to promote and strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperation between people of two countries.

At the congress, the delegates agreed that in the next term, the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association would continue to promote friendship cooperation between Vietnam and the United Kingdom. Also during the 2019-2024 term, the Association will establish and implement Len Aldis Scholarship / Charity Fund with a view to helping poor children overcome difficulties and victims of Agent Orange / dioxin in Vietnam.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations gave the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association the veil with the words "Active, flexible, creative and effective" and rewarded some collectives and individuals having outstanding achievements in the previous term.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nga believes that the Association will grow more and more, contributing to tighten the friendship between the two countries

Through the Congress, the Presidium wishes all those who have studied and worked in the UK will join the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association, become official members to create more opportunities for cooperation, exchange, help each other in the fields of life as well as to promote friendship between Vietnam and the United Kingdom and to solve some social issues and help the community.
